Open thread II: a fumble and a bottle of Cristobal edition
I would be remiss in fulfilling this blog’s duties if I did not observe that this is the second time Marco Cristobal has blown a game by refusing to go into victory formation at the end of the game with a lead and the opposition having no way to stop the clock before time expires:
Mario Cristobal has now managed to lose two different games as a coach by not having his team take a knee at the end of a game they were winning. https://t.co/OVtmNU7uzY— James Surowiecki (@JamesSurowiecki) October 8, 2023
When this happened in the NFL nearly 50 years ago, the OC who called the play was fired the next day and never coached football at any level again. But in the NCAA it takes more not to keep failing laterally, I guess.
