I hope everyone is enjoying the paroxysms of fear and outrage roiling the bowels of white supremacy because Democrats called the GOP’s bluff. It’s not every day you see awful white people screaming because the help quit. And their scabs in the press; I wish I could have been there when they realized their draft “Dems Cave to Kevin” articles were worthless. It also flushed some weird Democrats who think Democrats in office should throw themselves in front of bullets that Republicans fire at themselves.

At any rate, on the night they drove ol’ Kevin down I requested piping hot takes that blamed Democrats because Republicans ousted the Republican Speaker.

I said “Tomorrow I’ll select three at random and make a small donation to three different charities in the commentarions’ honor.” Because I didn’t receive many quotes, I decided to make a donation for each quote, with one exception.

Thanks to everyone who participated. If you don’t like the recipient of your donation send me a $25 refund c/o the blog.

*Many of the quotes are also in this article.

You can’t blame Dems for the blow that right-wing bomb throwers landed on Kevin McCarthy. But! What you can say is that they failed to do the right thing on behalf of the American people.* Matt Lewis – The Daily Beast

The donation: $25 to Spencer Pride.

The quote:

Unbelievable. The Democrats, with the help of Matt Gaetz and a handful of GOP Members, just ousted the Republican Speaker of the House. What a mess. This is so foolish. Why would anyone want to be Speaker of the House.* Ari Fleischer

The exceptionalism: A shared $25 donation to Alabama Forward.

J- provided this pre-vote tangle of cliches by David Dullio:

Elections have consequences. The GOP has more members of the House than the Democrats do. That means they get to run the show. Democrats could show some statesmanship, pragmatism and magnanimity. They could put the institution of the House above petty politics and nip the challenge to McCarthy in the bud so the House can do its work.

LittleGreen provided this turd from Boot Max.

McCarthy often did the wrong thing but he was ousted for doing the right thing—working with Democrats to keep the government open. That sets a bad precedent. I still think Democrats missed an opportunity to work with him to marginalize the worse crazies in the GOP caucus.

And AlexSaltzberg handed in a very cranky baseball.

Remember, Democrats may say they want more responsible Republican leadership, but they will side against that every chance they get – and then complain if anyone tries to hold them responsible for their own choices. so wrong.*

I regret that I couldn’t think of a way to send pool noodles.

For your Friday morning, Colbert explains the events of National Kevin Day.

People who post off-topic comments think Democrats should apologize to the GOP.
