Appearing on five television networks Sunday morning, a lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump argued that his actions in the effort to overturn the 2020 election fell short of crimes and were merely “aspirational.”

Aspiring with various other people to do something illegal, when that aspiration is concretized into extensive specific plans to do so, is also known as “a criminal conspiracy.”

The remarks from his lawyer, John F. Lauro, came as Mr. Trump was blanketing his social media platform, Truth Social, with posts suggesting that his legal team was going to seek the recusal of Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, the federal judge overseeing the case, and try to move his trial out of Washington.

Trump has a constitutional right to be tried by a jury of his peers, with the trial being overseen by a normal American. His lawyer has suggested that the venue be shifted to West Virginia, which is 93% white and 98% high school dropouts (The latter statistic may be hyperbole. The former is not).

In the other posts, Mr. Trump attacked Ms. Pelosi, the former House speaker, who recently said that the former president had seemed like “a scared puppy” before his arraignment. “She is a sick & demented psycho who will someday live in HELL!” Mr. Trump wrote.

Hell is definitely other people, if those people are Trumpers.

As for the rest of us, there is unfortunately no exit from this nightmare from which we are trying to awake.

[SL] The West Virginia thing is even funnier because Mr Hutz literally claimed that it was a superior venue because it was more diverse:
