I hope you read Abbie VanSickle and Steve Eder’s story about Clarence Thomas’s billionaire rally girl network, which we discussed yesterday. It’s a model of journalism, finding new and important information, moving an important story about corrupt practices by public officials who are both extremely powerful and mostly unaccountable.

Not everyone agrees, however!

I’m not sure Martin’s tweet was composed by AI or if he ran it through every language in Google translate and back of what, but the argument seems to be that it”s “thirsty” in the pejorative sense for reporters to continue to pursue stories about powerful (right-wing) public officials. It is also “thirsty” for sources to reveal things about powerful people that they would prefer not to be revealed, a rather remarkable theory of journalism.

Anyway, if these reporters wanted Martin’s approval, they should have found a story of truly inexhaustible interest, like Hillary Clinton’s compliance with email server management best practices. Corruption on the part of Republican Supreme Court judges, on the other hand, BORRRRRR-ING.
