Stop Trying to Make Fetch and Trump/DeSantis Happen
I know everyone is dying to know why I object to the vast majority of wishcasting that seeks to answer the question: What Will the Wuggly Trump Do Next? The suspense ends now!
The vast majority of attempts to predict his next move are not based on the well known behavior patterns of the quivering sack of bile that is still the GOP’s great orange white hope.
And it’s an error that’s so easy to avoid that it must be intentional. Everyone knows that tRump is extremely irrational, vindictive, ignorant and self-obsessed (also, a sex predator). Therefore, if a prediction isn’t based on what a person who is extremely irrational, vindictive, ignorant and self-obsessed (and also, a sex predator) would do in a similar situation, that prediction is wrong.
However, the GOP’s creep-in-chief is also the poster critter for white America. And that’s why people, even intelligent ones, cling to the idea that beneath the steaming 6′ pile of unreasoning orange shit, there must be a pretty white pony of rationality. And it’s capable of playing nth dimensional chess!
This delusion results in people who want to be taken very seriously very seriously pushing the idea that the hoarder of grudges and demander of worship would want someone who ever showed less than 100% support for his return to the White House, as his VP.
Donald Trump continues to attack Ron DeSantis on camera, on stage, and on social media.
Yep. Because Ron isn’t kissing his ass non-stop. Worse, Ron is angling for what he regards as his presidency. There’s no mystery here.
But could that all be a smokescreen for eventual cooperation?
Could the hateful dullard who hates everyone but especially people who don’t kiss his ass be pretending to hate someone who isn’t kissing his ass for … reasons? (Nope.)
The New York Post’s Page Six reports “insiders” are making the case for party unity, and the former President and current 2024 front-runner are listening.
Insiders being unnamed people with some undefined connection to either person or campaign. Listening being neither person has definitively said hell no, to our knowledge. I guess.
In addition, any person who has been paying attention to U.S. politics over the past decade – such as reporters who cover U.S. politics – knows what it means when Donnie Dainty Digits talks like a dime-store Mafia don.
More recently, in a Newsmax interview Monday night, Trump dismissed the idea of DeSantis being a good candidate, even in the future.
“Look right now, I’m very down on him. I’m a believer in loyalty and I’m a believer in other things and he has obviously not run a very good campaign because he’s getting crushed. So, I really don’t know,” Trump said.
“I’m very disappointed in him because I’m a loyal person, maybe to a fault. I’m a loyal person and somebody gets you into office and then you’re telling people, ‘Well, I don’t know if I’ll run against the President,’ I mean, life shouldn’t have to work that way. But it does.”
Yes, he’s loyal to himself – definitely to a fault – and believes everyone else should be as well. It would be foolish to argue that Dump’s endorsement wasn’t crucial to DeSantis’ first win and just as foolish to argue that would forgive DeSantis for anything less than non-stop adulation.
And yet:
Perhaps the feud is a head fake for an eventual ticket after all.
Oh. Just fuck off.
A few days after Florida Politics ran this article a pro-DeSantis’ PAC started running this ad. It includes a man who smiles as he places a DeSantis bumper sticker over his Trump bumper sticker. Yes, it is a pro-DeSantis PAC and not directly from his still-TBA campaign. But can you imagine convincing That Fucking Guy that there’s a difference?
People who post off-topic comments think DeSantis is sexy.
