LGM Film Club, Part 377: The Gold Rush
When watching Chaplin’s The Gold Rush, one of the greatest films ever made, do you watch it in the original silent fashion or in the 1940s re-release when Chaplin, with his charming British accent, does a narration? I watched it this time with the narration. It is brilliant either way. I maintain that the potatoes as shoes dance is perhaps the best scene in film history. If you don’t like that scene, you must be one hard-hearted person. And that’s only one of like 15 brilliant scenes here.
