Standing up against wealthist micro-aggressions
That’s a modestly oversized rowboat to you
When it’s not lying about how progressive taxation in America it is, the editors of the Wall Street Journal are triggered and demanding a safe space for members of society facing horrible discrimination, like neoconfederate Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas and his billionaire patron Nazi art aficionado Harlan Crow:
ProPublica, a left-leaning website, kicked off the fun with a report Thursday that Justice Thomas has a longtime friendship with Harlan Crow, a wealthy Texas real-estate developer. The intrepid reporters roamed far and wide to discover that the Justice has sometimes traveled on Mr. Crow’s “Bombardier Global 5000 jet” and that each summer the Justice and his wife spend a vacation week at Mr. Crow’s place in the Adirondacks.
The piece is loaded with words and phrases intended to convey that this is all somehow disreputable: “superyacht”; “luxury trips”; “exclusive California all-male retreat”; “sprawling ranch”; “private chefs”; “elegant accommodation”; “opulent lodge”; “lavishing the justice with gifts.” And more.
Perhaps ProPublica reporters can get some sensitivity training and learn to avoid such hurtful descriptions of America’s ultra-wealthy.
One advantage of having as much wingnut welfare to throw around as Crow is that you can get trained monkeys to make arguments even more humiliatingly dumb than this one:
I mean, you'd better be paying people a lot to pretend not to understand the difference between owning a book about a dictator and displaying a dictator's shitty paintings https://t.co/mY2yOrnPYX— Scott Lemieux (@LemieuxLGM) April 10, 2023
Do you even need dignity when you have money?
