LGM Film Club, Part 373: Stop Making Sense
I watched Stop Making Sense again recently and I remain amazed. It’s by so far the greatest concert film in history (and far better that Byrne and Spike Lee trying to do another concert film that was a pale comparison). Byrne’s kinetic energy and stage show is great. He figured out that his band wasn’t really that great at their instruments, outside of Chris Frantz and so he brought in Bernie Worrell and a bunch of other guys to see the vision through. Then there’s the giant coat. It’s just a wonderful document of a great band.
Surprised the whole thing is available on YouTube.
