The Deadly Failure of American Medical Care

The real story of those poor Americans targeted, mistakenly, by Mexican gangs in Matamoros is that people go all the time to northern Mexico for medical procedures because it is much cheaper to do them there than here. This is a 2019 story on the issue and nothing has changed since. Not all of Mexico is dangerous, but parts of it are. That very much includes Matamoros, which at this point is probably the most dangerous border city, much more so than Tijuana and probably even than Juarez. Inevitably, some medical “tourist” was going to get caught up in the violence down there. Maybe we should, like, provide free medical care in the United States for everyone so they don’t have to do that.
