Teevee open thread: “In a room full of Timothy McVeighs, he kind of looks like Roosevelt” edition
So for the second time this year, we’ll be seeing the final season of one of the very greatest shows in the history of the medium. Make sure to hyper-decant your wine!
I suspect Game of Thrones will encourage showrunners to err on the side of ending shows too early rather than too late, and that’s not a bad thing. And as Armstrong has pointed out, the very premise of Succession sort of limits the number of viable story arcs. Re-watching the series, I was more stunned than ever by the incredible closing episodes of Season 3 — the family endorsing Justin Kirk’s kidding-on-the-square fascist, Kendall’s pitiably grandiose birthday party, Shiv immediately overplaying her hand with Geri in response to Roman’s sexting blunder, Tom sticking the, er, shiv in — just one classic after another, and I’m excited to see how Armstrong wraps it up.
Also, let it be said that this is the greatest depiction of a libertarian debate-me bro ever:
HE BUCKLED UNDER INTELLECTUAL SCRUTINY!
