Speaking of rank political ineptitude
Kyrsten Sinema, everyone:
Takeaways:
Sinema doesn’t crack 25% on any of these polls despite being the incumbent, and she’s more popular with Republicans than Dems
Gallego does better head-to-head against Lake and Blake
Independents like Gallego so far, not so much the others https://t.co/o8Os7qDc70— Matt Holt (@mattholt33) February 16, 2023
The game theory here remains incredibly easy:
- Gallego can absolutely win a 3-way race, and indeed it’s far from evident that Sinema would attract more Democratic than Republican voters.
- It’s a moot point because Sinema would almost certainly lose even to the latest libertarian ghoul grown by Peter Thiel Laboratories in a 2-way race anyway, so there’s nothing to lose from giving the party’s full support to Gallego.
- It’s hard to see why Sinema — who is clearly bored with the job and aching to leave it to spend (even) more time with her Silicon Valley tech bros — would even bother running, but the possibility that she has a Hochul/LaSalle humiliation fetish cannot be ruled out. If she does run, this can definitely be accommodated. No need to yuck anyone’s yum here!
