Since the upshot in the comments of today’s John L. O’Sullivan grave post is that many liberals believe that a) the U.S. was justified stealing half of Mexico to expand slavery because Mexicans amirite? and b) that genocide against Native Americans really wasn’t that big of a deal because other peoples in human history have also moved around and done terrible things, I present as the only appropriate historical image today John Gast’s 1872 painting American Progress. I really so deeply love it when liberals just announce their racism, not that they would say these things about Black history, but around Native or Latino history? It might as well be the Turner thesis around here. No wonder so many commenters defend The Searchers. It has their politics.
