MLB/NCAA Football Open Thread
October is so the best month for sports. Baseball playoffs, football in full effect, hoops and hockey coming in the preseason and coming very soon. So today’s a good day for sports.
Quite a performance for Luis Castillo yesterday, who absolutely dominated the Blue Jays, followed by Andres Munoz’s unhittable slider. Talk about making the case for trading top prospects to get the ace. Damn. Meanwhile, Scherzer continues the Mets collapse and the Cardinals pen crumbled like a Trump legal defense. Oh and Cleveland won. Let’s see how many of these games end in a 2-0 series victory. I like the idea of Robbie Ray winning at Toronto against his old teammates, but he’s been up and down this year so we’ll see what version we get.
In terms of college football, the Kansas story is super fun and their game against TCU should actually be pretty interesting. And in a week without any truly marquee matchups, there are a lot of very good games for fans. I’m interested to see if Tennessee can continue its rise at LSU. Utah-UCLA should be a lot of fun. Don’t sleep on the Washington State-USC game, real upset chance here. Cougs are a good football team. I’m curious to see if there’s anything real at all about Florida State and we’ll see when they play at North Carolina State, a pretty good team too. The Arkansas story last year was great, but they’ve lost a couple of tough games and really need a win at Mississippi State. Finally, there’s the Jimbo-Saban grudge match, though it’s hard not to see Bama just crushing A&M.
Hell of a nice day for sports. Let’s talk about it!
