As Larry Tribe and others are pointing out, none of these alleged (snicker) crimes require the documents in question to be classified, so Trump’s I magically declared them all unclassified without actually telling anybody defense is as irrelevant as it is preposterous.

Note as well that the crimes here have nothing to do with “mistakes” about “proper handling” of documents They are willful violations of the law, by a man who has always gotten away with willfully breaking the law with practically zero consequences. Whether that is going to change remains to be seen.
