Clowntime is (Almost) Over
Is this like an PBS/NPR pledge drive? Sure. But we really do try to keep the revenue-raising activities that make continuing this blog viable to as unobtrusive as possible, and so 1 day of fundraising out of 365 is necessary. We greatly appreciate the generous support that we’ve received from our readers! For those who haven’t had the chance but have the will and the means:

To transition back to the usual programming, I ask you where else Glenn Greenwald will sockpuppet the comments section with one breathless comment after another about the INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT TEN ALARM-STORY: the Durham MAGA snipe hunt resulting in the indictment of Michael Sussmann? I think Matt Taibbi has devoted enough words on this Fox News B-Story on his Shakeshack to exceed War and Peace and Inifite Jest put together.
Well, you know what they say about the anti-anti-Trump “left”: when you’re right 0% of the time you’re wrong 100% of the time.
..Nobdy in comments sums it up well:
The nice thing about this trial is that the allegation underlying the criminal charge was unbelievably petty. Basically that Sussmann failed to tell the FBI something that they already knew and was more or less publicly available knowledge at the time.
This wasn’t so much trying to get Al Capone for tax evasion as it was trying to get a waiter at one of Capone’s favorite restaurants for parking with the back bumper of his car 3 inches into a hydrant zone.
Riveting stuff.
Also in this metaphor Capone is entirely innocent of any serious wrongdoing.
