Is the Supreme Court coming for the Amazon union?
Amazon is responding to the remarkable organizing effort in Staten Island by saying that the NLRB rigged the election:
In a new statement, Amazon says it's now.. going after the U.S. National Labor Relations Board. https://t.co/21RYC0cOmB pic.twitter.com/89tBR2xL2h— Jennifer Elias (@jenn_elias) April 1, 2022
This might be seen as sour grapes, but it’s considerably more ominous than that. The Supreme Court, after all, is controlled by 6 Republicans who are 1)extremely anti-labor and 2)willing to take legal positions it would be exceedingly generous to call “strained” to express their anti-labor views. It is very possible that the Court will find some way to throw the results out. Even worse, my guess is that there are 3 votes for the proposition that NLRB v. Jones & Laughlin Steel should be overruled and getting votes 4 and 5 is far from beyond the realm of possibility.
