If you get a chance, check out Maya Da-Rin’s 2009 film Terras, which is a documentary meditation on life where Colombia, Brazil, and Peru meet. What are borders? Why do they exist? How do people end up in these places? How do they impact the indigenous peoples of areas who suddenly find themselves split between multiple countries? These are some of the issues explored by Da-Rin in this quite worthy film, which is available on Criterion Channel. Here’s a short bit from it. It’s almost completely unseen–my rating of it on IMDB makes a grand total of 16. So check it out.
