Warmly, Sonia Sotomayor
The Supreme Court tried to do some damage control over Nina Totenberg’s reporting about internal divisions within the Court yesterday. To Republican hacks, if there is a conflict between the self-serving bare assertions of powerful public officials and in-depth reporting from one of the best in the field, there’s no question whose side you should believe with 100% confidence:
Anyway, in unrelated news, Sonia Sotomayor had some interesting things to say on the subject of whether the nullification of constitutional rights is a good thing to her very, very good friends today:

Clearly, the problem here is that the Republican majority is just “flummoxed” by the incredibly clever work of 5CA, which is definitely not just a simple strategy of nullification and running out the clock they’re completely open about pic.twitter.com/n8nE1x2izq— Scott Lemieux (@LemieuxLGM) January 20, 2022
Remember when Alito went ballistic over @AdamSerwer pointing out the obvious fact that Roe had been nullified in Texas? I’m sure he really loved his warm personal friend Sonia Sotamayor once again saying it because it’s inarguably true https://t.co/S0LJbgcf11— Scott Lemieux (@LemieuxLGM) January 21, 2022
I’m sure a good laugh will be had by all at this at the next ice cream social that will prove that in five years the Supreme Court will be totally legitimate.
…as multiple commenters have noted, Dahlia’s piece on Maskghazi is very good.
