It should be obvious that school closures in response to COVID represent a very difficult issue, requiring a careful balancing of enormous potential costs and benefits, often undertaken in a state of extreme uncertainty.
It should also be obvious to any non-crazy person that analogizing this set of policy decisions to the Iraq war is wrong to a genuinely bizarre extent.
If we had pundit licenses, Silver’s should be permanently suspended at this point. Of course if we did, his name would be on a very very long list in that regard.
