Folks are saying it could be the worst tornado disaster in Kentucky history:

The “most severe tornado event in Kentucky’s history” is believed to have claimed the lives of at least 50 people, with the death toll possibly rising to 70 to 100, Gov. Andy Beshear said early Saturday morning. Beshear said four likely tornadoes wreaked havoc on the state with one tracked for more than 200 miles in Western Kentucky, “something we have never seen before.” More than a dozen Kentucky counties have reported damage from the storms, he said. Deaths have been reported in multiple counties, he said. The hardest hit appears to be Graves County in far Western Kentucky. Its county seat, Mayfield, has been devastated, said the governor. A collapsed roof at a candle factory has resulted in mass casualties, he said.

Not sure why the candle factory was operating graveyard on a Friday night, but I guess we’ll be hearing more as the day goes on. Sun is coming up now in most of the counties that were hit the worst, so there’s still much room for bad news.
