If a Never-Trump isn’t coming to save the Republican Party, we will have to invent one
Why are political reporters acting as the PR team for Chris Christie’s new “book”?
Christie is trying to sell a book. He has no credibility with Trump's base so he's marketing himself to centrists. This "voice of resistance in the GOP" schtick is going to evaporate in 10 minutes like it always does. We’ve already seen Christie morph from “Ostensibly Serious Anti-Trump Republican” to “Particularly Obsequious Trump Lickspittle In Vain” once. He would be advocating making Trump dictator for life if he thought it meant increasing his book sales 10% and didn’t jeopardize a potential WFAN gig. He has zero chance of ever being the Republican nominee whether Trump runs or not. But there always has to be a This Is A Good Republican out there, and Christie is thirsty enough to fill the role.
