Bowden
Bobby Bowden is dead. The winningest coach in elite college football history not to knowingly keep on his defensive coordinator after he discovered said coordinator was raping small boys in the locker room, at least Bowden made it to one last goal in his life. From last year:
Former Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden thanked his doctors, family and fans their support and prayers through his “tough” bout with COVID-19.
“I want to thank all the many many people who were thinking of and praying for me over the last few weeks,” Bowden said Wednesday in a statement released by his son, former Clemson coach Tommy Bowden. “I just went through a battle with COVID-19 and God just wasn’t ready to take me home yet to be with him.
“I’ve had a chance to get a lot of wins in my life, but I really wanted to win this one because I wanted to be around to vote for President Trump,” Bowden said.
Trump responded to Bowden’s comments on Twitter: “Thank you to Florida State for giving us Bobby Bowden!”
Spending your life mentoring, theoretically at least, young Black men and then wanting to live so you could vote one last time for the fascist who wants an ethno-nationailst state, well, that’s just peak college football ain’t it.
This is also a moment to remember my favorite Oregon football game of all time.
