Just a breathtaking amount of narcissism and arrogance, although — or probably more accurately because — he’s a consummate mediocrity who attained positions of power because his dad was the governor. But wasting an afternoon Caro could have spent writing Vol. 5 of the LBJ bio engaging in a one-way lecture which demonstrated that he either hadn’t read Caro’s book or didn’t understand it is a war crime.
