When Facts Are Controversial: A Modern Story
The fascists at Campus Reform are after me again because……..
A University of Rhode Island professor claimed that the Republican Party will be to blame for “every single” future COVID-19 death.
“The thousands of upcoming COVID deaths are entirely the fault of the Republican Party. Every single one,” tweeted University of Rhode Island history professor Erik Loomis. “Though, it is worth noting, people do have agency and if they were bamboozled by the Republican Party, they also wanted to be.”
Loomis’ remarks are similar to those made by American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, who alleged that “millions of Floridians are going to die for Ron DeSantis’ ignorance.”
Evidently, the Sinclair-run NBC station in Providence either has run a “story” on this last night or is running a “story” on this.
Wow, how controversial to say that Republicans are responsible for COVID deaths. Could it have something to do with Donald Trump? Or perhaps Tucker Carlson? Or the endless Republican governors just embracing death from March 2020 to the present? Or the Republicans in Congress who won’t get vaccinated (or refuse to say they have been vaccinated even though of course they have)? Or the entire Republican media network saying this is about politics and not, you know, reality? And gee, I wonder how we could tell if this was true? I wonder what would happen if you compared Delta variant cases and recent deaths between, say, Missouri, Louisiana, and Arkansas on one end and Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Oregon on the other end? I’m sure the results…would not surprise you!
Next, the Campus Reform story on how Loomis claims Donald Trump tried to lead a coup on January 6, 2021, followed by another story on how Loomis is outrageously claiming that his home state is burning due to climate change! News at 11 in Providence!!!
