Pujols

It seems that it is the end of the line for the second greatest first baseman in Major League history.

If anything, I feel Pujols is underrated as to his career impact. He came up in the time of the massive home run surge and was arguably the most consistent hitter since Hank Aaron. He did everything well but run for a long, long time. It’s true he played too long in terms of his talent, but on the other hand, would you quit if you had hundreds of millions of dollars on the table? I sure wouldn’t. Not his fault Arte Moreno paid him for past production instead of future production. So he won’t go down as a hero in Angels history, where he will be remembered for a bloated contract and diminishing value. But in Cardinals history? He’s right there with Musial and Gibson.
