The pilot just announced we’re on final approach so why can’t I deplane now?

Whenever I read stuff like this I always wonder to extent to which somebody like Cornyn is genuinely stupid — he’s a Republican so that’s a strong argument in that direction right off the bat — or is just cynically playing to the rubes, or on the third freakish hand is so deep into his own bullshit that the whole question of whether what he says is true or not is simply not an epistemological issue that even exists for him any more.

On a more cheerful note, the US has now administered more than 100 million doses of the three vaccines, which by my back the enveloping means that around 26% of all adults have gotten at least one shot, with half that group already being fully vaccinated. With the seven day daily average of doses administered currently at 2.3 million and likely to rise as the J&J vaccine is introduced more fully into the system, we really could be at herd immunity by July 4th, although idiot/evil Republicans will do their best to kill as many Americans between now and then as they can.
