I realized I had never heard W.E.B. DuBois’ voice. So while this is an audio recording rather than a film, I am making his 1960 speech, “Socialism and the American Negro,” tonight’s film club clip. He was 92 years old at this time. And he sounds great and powerful. By this time, he had given up on both capitalism and America by this time and would die in Ghana three years later, living in self-imposed exile under African leadership where he could be free.
