The thing about giving prominent op-ed hacks more secure tenure than Article III judges is that they can get so lazy and far removed from the basic facts of what they’re supposed to be covering that they can argue with a straight face that divided government would result in a suite of Sensible Compromises as opposed to a situation in which Biden couldn’t even get cabinet secretaries confirmed.
