Just like a woman

Fox News star Tomi Lahren is riffing on Maureen Dowd’s ever-fresh standard, “Democrat Men Are Really Women.”

Lahren is of course merely plying her trade rather than offering a sincere judgment, but the extent to which the American right wing relies on misogyny, and in particular internalized misogyny among white women, is always worth noting.

Note the formula here is that being a woman is bad because women are weak and men are strong, and that strength is best illustrated by indifference to both your own life and those of others, like a Viking berserker or a devotee of Ayn Rand.

This is what happens when supporting your movement’s leader turns into a non-stop contest to explain why going on a blind date with Ted Bundy is actually a good idea.
