LGM Film Club, Part 78: China and the Chinese
This 1928 travelogue by Isaac Upham doesn’t feel like a journey into 92 years ago. It feels like 200 years ago. Obviously the 20th century has reached China–the European style buildings in Shanghai, the electric wires, of course the fact that it is all being filmed. But China has changed so dramatically that it feels like another world. Interesting footage if nothing else.
