On “Luck” and Economic Decline

I want to push back on the idea that millennials are an “unlucky” generation, facing economic strife, pandemics, and other factors that are severely limiting their lifetime earnings. They aren’t unlucky. They are the victims of the New Gilded Age, where older people destroyed the nation in order to consolidate power and wealth, destroy the social safety net, and fan racial strife. This was an intentional project that is highly successful for the elites who benefit from it. We need to talk about the economy and society as part of this intentionality, not as “luck.”
