The sight of the Guardian giving David Sirota a platform for his insidious nonsense reminds me of something I’ve been wanting to say ever since Bernie Sanders ended his campaign (Sanders, by the way, has been excellent ever since, making it all the more frustrating that he entrusted his campaign to opportunistic grifters like Sirota, Gray, etc.).

Nothing better illustrates the fundamental narcissism of the Park Slope left than demands that Biden convince them to sully themselves by voting for him. I find these demands particularly aggravating because, like 98% (estimate) of the LGM community, I didn’t support Biden in the primary. He was, in fact, way down my list of preferred candidates, as he seems to have been for the vast majority of people here.

But somehow, only the trust fund socialists out there are demanding to have their tender feelings assuaged before they will deign to actually vote against Donald Trump five months from now. Everybody else, disappointed as we were by the outcome of the primary process, is miraculously capable of swallowing our disappointment without first having to be told how very special we and our feelings and our dreams and our votes really are. We’re expected to vote against a proto-fascist madman as a matter of course, without any attempts being made by the Biden campaign to convince us to make what is apparently for the Sirotas and Scahills of the world an agonizingly fraught choice.

It’s almost as if Sirota, Scahill, et. al. actually want Trump to win for some reason. What could that reason be? This is truly a deep and terrible mystery.
