State of the Union
Unexpectedly (at least to me — but I confess I don’t understand the arcana of Senate procedure, and exactly what sorts of delay tactics are and are not available to the Democrats), Mitch McConnell has agreed to let the climax of his sham trial wait until after Tuesday’s State of the Union address.
This post is a solicitation for ideas on how the Democrats should handle this particularly surreal and sordid moment in our political history. What sorts of protests at the event would make the most sense, politically speaking?
I would personally get a kick out of Nancy Pelosi using the occasion to mock Trump with the most over the top displays possible of cult-like enthusiasm, leaping to her feet to applaud and cheer every thirty seconds, perhaps while wearing a MAGA hat. Also there would be pom-poms. I’m not saying this is a good idea.
Have at it.
