On Terrible and Overrated Books

With one bizarre exception, this is a useful list of once famous books that are, in fact, awful, many because of their eye-rolling toxic masculinity. The bizarre exception is Mao’s Little Red Book, which may indeed be terrible, but it’s not only not the same thing, it’s not the same universe. Replace Mao with the execrable Henry Miller though and we have pretty much a perfect list. David Foster Wallace? Check. Kerouac? You bet. Salinger? Oh yeah. And then just super shitty authors like Ayn Rand.
Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with an open thread for books, so let’s do that.
