Wonderwall (Update)
Update – Cucker Tarlson’s comment deserves to be above the lede.
Because maybe
You’re gonna be the one that pays me
Then after all
There’s no racist wall.
When it comes to right wing entrepreneurship, Brian Kolfage is a pro.
A December fundraising campaign brought in more than $20 million over the course of a few weeks, its thousands of donors united by a common goal:
To throw their money away because they’re xenophobic assholes, which the Washington Post misspelled “the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, oft-promised by President Trump. “
Some four months later, a contingent of those supporters is ready to see what their money has built.
If you can’t spot the sucker in the room until after you’ve handed your money over, you aren’t so much a sucker as a willing participant in a transfer of funds from your pocket to a con artist’s. So shut up and go back to fondling your KKKAG hat.
“We should be turning dirt on this thing by May 1, June 1 at the latest, according to our experts,” Kolfage told Politico in February. In a March 21 interview with American Family Radio, however, the veteran asserted they were going to “start breaking ground” in April
He didn’t say what year! Anyway, there’s a perfectly good and legitimate reason he can’t tell anyone when or where the section or sections of the wall will be. Liberals heavily armed with lawsuits.
In the interview, Kolfage said his nonprofit had identified eight locations to build along the border, but failed to name them, stating that his efforts could be thwarted by liberals if they were revealed.
“I wish I could name where it’s at, but we can’t name it because of the ACLU, these other liberal groups who want to sue us and impede our progress,” he said. “But it’s actually happening, the process is happening . . . the project is moving forward.”
If national press outlets must inflict its obsession with right wingers on the rest of us, I suppose I could be thrilled they’re running articles about how various righties keep ripping each other off. They aren’t as funny to me as they might be because I’ve started to suspect these articles allow soft core bigots to feel superior to – or pity for – the right wing rubes who give their hard-earned cash to a right wing conman.
However, I probably will giggle when he releases picture of a wall, in a location that looks suitably desert-like and claims that it is the wall people paid for, but it is in an undisclosed location to protect it from horrible liberals.
