One has been requested, and what with fundraising day coming up and all it had been provided. While we’re here, this is an amusing microcosm of how analytic knowledge gets absorbed by mainstream reporters who spent years attacking it:

“Only NERDS with their SLIDE RULES think that trading an elite forward for a low-ceiling second-pairing defenseman is a bad move!” [2 years and one MVP later] “Everyone knew that that ridiculous trade was a firable offense the second it happened!” Obviously, everybody gets stuff wrong and learning from your mistakes is fine, but just pretending you agreed with the people you spent years insulting along although they were right and you were wrong is another question entirely. But it’s really just an extreme example of how empirical knowledge slowly gets assimilated into the conventional wisdom.
