As I mentioned recently, I’ve been reading John Farrell’s biography of Richard Nixon, which is, shall we say, not without contemporary parallels. But rarely have I see the post-1960 Republican Party as well represented as in this sequence. The broader context here is Nixon and Kissinger strongly supporting genocidal maniac Yahya Khan:

And, of course, this was also just before the Last Liberal President (TM) decided to obstruct justice and suborn perjury to cover up the various crimes committed by his associates on behalf of his re-election.
I expect “hell, we’ve done worse” do be the Republican slogan in 2018.
