Seems legit

Tea Party hack and snake oil salesperson Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald will step down from the top spot at the CDC, the anti-vax, anti-choice, homophobic medloons of AAPS start polishing up their CVs.

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Brenda Fitzgerald, MD, has resigned, according to multiple media reports.

The news comes a day after Politico reported that Dr Fitzgerald bought shares in tobacco, drug, and food companies 1 month after being appointed to the position in July 2017.

The Politico report was apparently the last straw about reports of her financial conflicts of interest that have followed her for some time, forcing her to recuse herself from agency activities, according to the Washington Post.

Alex Azar, who recently was sworn in as the new head of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced her resignation this morning because she couldn’t “divest from them in a definitive time period,” HHS Spokesman Matt Lloyd said.

In addition to practicing as an ob/gyn, Fitzgerald was certified in anti-aging and regenerative medicine by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Nobody will be surprised to learn that the the academy — and any bits of paper it hands out — are not recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

A perfect fit for the tRump administration, in other words. The acting director is Ann Schuchat, MD. But she’s qualified so I don’t expect she’ll be around long.

Update: How could I have forgotten the good old free market-y days when cigarette companies we able to claim smoking is healthy?
