Sounds Like A Plan!
How are Republicans going to try to get the votes for The Enjoy This Shit Sandwich, America! Act of 2017? One strategery, perhaps devised with careful attention to George W. Bush’s immensely successful Social Security privatization effort, is to send Donald Trump out to BULLY PULPIT the OVERTON WINDOW. Bigly:
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who has perhaps the closest friendship of any congressional leader with Trump, said Trump’s role is to be the heavyweight presence who comes in late and closes the deal in both chambers.
“Look at his history, it’s getting deals done,” McCarthy said. “He likes people, he doesn’t sleep much and works all the time. He asks a lot of questions and as we narrow it all down, he’s in the mode of let’s find the sweet spot, figure out what works, and let’s get this done.”
McCarthy said he expects Trump to eventually hold more public events or rallies since “he can help explain it” to the country.
Yes, it’s hard to see the ETSSA!A failing once Trump uses this kind of eloquence to set fire to reason:
“It follows the guidelines I laid out in my congressional address — a plan that will lower costs, expand choices, increase competition, and ensure healthcare access for all Americans.
“This will be a plan where you can choose your doctor. This will be a plan where you can choose your plan. And you know what the plan is — this is the plan. And we’re going to have a tremendous — I think we’re going to have a tremendous success. It’s a complicated process, but actually it’s very simple. It’s called good healthcare.”
Wait — it gets better:
Trump confident health care will pass House but for Senate he plans "football stadium rallies" in red states to prod vulnerable Dems. https://t.co/xr6Xvagf0k

I’m not sure what’s more ridiculous — the idea that a single Senate Democrat would vote for the ETSSA!A, or the idea that Trump is capable of filling football stadiums with people passionately committed to the ETSSA!A. It might pass anyway, but Trump’s not going to be much help.
