Inexplicable Decision Proves Inexplicable

I wouldn’t say that Joe Maddon’s absolutely inexplicable decision to have Aroldis Chapman throw 20 pitches with a 5-run lead yesterday, after a long outing in game 5, is…looking better right now. (Great ABs by Davis and Guyer, too — lot of tough pitches laid off or fouled off.)

Admittedly, Maddon is not alone — Tito sending Kluber out to start the 5th when he had nothing from the first pitch wasn’t much more explicable. I guess a tie in the top of the 9th is the appropriate outcome…

…Agree with a commenter that the quick hook of Hendricks didn’t help either.
