Title To Be Announced When I Can Think of a Funny One Which Will Probably Be Never Because I Am a Woman and As Such It’s Not Part of My Biological Imperative
These two posts by Rebecca Watson made me chuckle because A.) they were biting and funny and B.) because they reminded me of my experience posting under this old Amanda Marcotte article for Slate. The comment section was basically filled with posts like “Come on, let’s just all agree that women are not as funny as men” written by unfunny men who probably think that setting their farts aflame is the apex of good comedy. But the best comments were those of the evo-psych bent, wherein dudebros held forth on how men had to evolve a sense of humor to impress the ladies.
This seems to have worked out very poorly as a evolutionary survival tactic, as so many many men are not funny. Yet many of these same unfunny men have managed to find mates (presumably unfunny ones, because, women, amirite?)
