Neither Puzzled Nor Outraged
As a general rule I consider hypocrisy a trivial sin, especially in the international sphere. As Dan puts it:

As such, I’m not particularly troubled that the architect of the Second Chechen War borrows humanitarian language to make an anti-interventionist argument in Syria. Whatever bakes your cake, dude. I would venture, however, that people who are really bothered by the hypocritical rhetoric of foreign policy leaders should be really bothered by Vladimir Putin.
