By As always with Samuelson, what’s most impressive is the sheer laziness. Even though he’s willing to just make stuff up, he can’t come up with 5 reasons to specifically oppose the PPACA, so he has to pad out his list by starting with the generic and meaningless complaint that the bill “increases uncertainty and decreases confidence.” Well, trying to get the Supreme Court to strike down major federal legislation based on ad hoc theories with major potential ramifications for future legislation would really increase “uncertainty,” but oddly Samuelson doesn’t seem worried about that. And, needless to say, “uncertainty” is never a problem when it comes to major policy changes that he likes, such as gutting Social Security and Medicare.
