Manuel poked fun at the team’s beleaguered medical staff when asked about Gary Sheffield‘s status after Sheffield left the game in the fifth inning with a cramp in his right hamstring.
“They’re calling it cramps . . . surgery on Thursday,” Manuel said before erupting in laughter.
I dunno, between Reyes’s “day-to-day” injury that has caused him to miss more than half the season with no particular timetable to return, Church being flown across the country immediately after a second concussion, an obviously hurt Putz appearing in game after game…there’s something wrong here, whether it’s the medical staff or the upper management.
