Knowledge is Power
The impending death of the Pontiff seems like a particularly good time to take the Bush Administration’s sex-ed quiz. No cheating!
(On the larger issue, I think Matt basically gets it right. I will mention the obvious problem with the major defense being made in the comments, which is that criticism of JPII is unfair because he holds to consistent principles. Leaving aside the areas where it isn’t true, it doesn’t really amount to much of an argument. I concede that he was consistently committed to the principles of subordinating women, treating zygotes and human beings and morally equivalent, and preferring the death of hundreds of thousands of people to scientifically accurate sex education. Being consistently committed to extremely bad principles is, however, is not something to commend.)
