By Shorter Bobo: Even I, a conservative whose stock in trade is dividing groups of people into overgeneralized camps and talks about “epidemics” of oral sex and gnashes his teeth about sex columns in college newspapers, am more skeptical about claims that Americans are uncrtically shaped by popular culture than Amy Sullivan. And even I can see that stale moralizing about the issue is a “kabuki dance” that most people can see through in about 3 seconds. Shouldn’t that tell us something?
