- This is a pretty incredible Mother Jones article about a reporter who went undercover in an Arizona militia, where members gleefully and nonchalantly talked about killing women and “hunting for Mexicans.” It’s chilling and depressing.
- I had mixed feelings about this Wapo article about a man who left white supremacy behind after going to college. Mixed because I’m hopeful that people can learn and grow and change, but depressed that this young man even had to, that he had to leave such a toxic environment to begin with.
- It turns out you can’t physically high five an article, though I tried to do it with this Daily Banter piece on finding common ground with the Trumpkins. (I’m against this, in case you were wondering.)
- My latest piece stars my son and it’s called “The MOST FANTASTIC Fox.”
- My favorite new twitter account is: https://twitter.com/trichael_macey It’s a Michael Tracey parody account and it is good.
- The best, most straightforward blueprint for making a classic potato gratin is this Martha Stewart one. Add the garlic you use to rub down the pan to the heated cream, then use the blueprint as a jumping off point, and you’re golden. (And so are the potatoes!) I’ve used about every cheese/herb combo you can imagine here, up to including blue cheese and it’s never not been delicious. I’ve also made it using half and half. Less decadent, but still great.
