In related news, Althouse remains birther-curious. You see, regardless of the merits of birtherism (and she believes they exist!), it proves something about how the press is in the tank for Obama, because otherwise why wouldn’t they promote nutty, racist conspiracy theories with no evidence? I guess the precedent that a lack of evidence should be no bar to running with winger fever dreams was set with Whitewater, and to prove its “objectivity” the press needs to keep doing it. For Democratic presidents, that is — Republicans should get mash notes from Elisabeth Bumiller.
